Fractals

The knowledge of fractal geometry can be very beneficial for many subjects and should be common knowledge.
A fractal is a geometric shape that is divided with self symmetry infinitely within an object according to People.hws.edu.  Fractals are found in just about everything in nature, art and technology.
Everything in nature looks complex and random, but it really isn't that random at all. Someone can look at a tree's branches and notice the pattern that occurs throughout the tree to its leaves. They are also seen in clouds, snowflakes, broccoli, brains, and mineral formations. Doctors can find early tumors by finding veins that don’t carry on a fractal pattern. Fractals are seen almost everywhere in everyday life.
It also can be used in many musical and visual arts. Artists use fractals all the time when they are creating a landscape or a design for a product. It makes it easy for an artist to make their work seem more complex and pleasing to the eye.
Fractal shapes created on computers are made by a formula with all of the formula’s possible answers put onto a graph. After it is all graphed out by the computer, a mind blowing geometric shape appears on the screen. Videos of fractal shapes on YouTube zoom in on the shape infinitely and the viewer will notice that the shape they first looked at will be seen throughout the video.
A math teacher told me, "Fractals are found in animation, cell phones, and computer chips." If fractals were never discovered, then computers would still be the size of a car. The knowledge of fractals allowed technicians to condense more electrical circuits in a smaller area. This is why computer chips are becoming smaller every year. Radio transmitters also use fractals so that it can encode more frequencies. This allows cell phones to be used with other features and televisions can receive more channels that are broadcasted.
No matter what career one follows, fractal knowledge may be extremely useful. Even if it doesn’t, it will open the minds of many.
